Avoid improper formatting of numbers

Decimal numbers less than 10^-3 or bigger than 10^3 should be displayed properly. Students can not be expected to recognise numbers using the oldfashioned line printer format using "En" in stead of the proper "10^n".

It is frustrating for both students and teachers, and puts an extra burden on question authors, who must either carefully avoid large and small numbers, or implement and test cumbersome work-arounds.
